Colmar Day 2 (14 Apr)

Sue and I jump out of bed with smiles on our faces (well may be just me cos I'm more of a morning person) as our 'old' school buddy and partner in crime is popping over from Switzerland with her hubby to spend the day.

I have no doubt it will involve lots of reminiscing, laughter, food and alcohol - bring it on.

Our guests for the day promptly arrive around 11am and heart felt 'hellos', 'great to see you both' are exchanged before we head off to explore the beautiful Colmar. Here's the a shot of the school buddies reunion:

We decide to take a 4 carriage train ride to explore the town - even though we head headsets both Linda (our high school friend) & Olivier provided additional running commentary that only enhanced the recorded version 🙈🙉🙊.

Here's a picture of our train and Sue & Linda enjoying the ride!!

Having completed our train ride we continued to explore the Old Town part of Colmar and the impressive efforts to decorate their homes. Even though Easter had passed, it's a huge celebration in Colmar and therefore many decorations still remained. Here's some examples of how they decorated their houses to welcome Easter and the long awaited change of weather:

We also meandered down to the Fishermans Quay area to get the 'money shots' of the houses along the Lauch stream. It definitely did not disappoint in terms of beauty and the warm weather certainly helped:

After overloading our visual sensors it was time to grab a belated lunch and bevvy or two. So we headed off to sate our needs and here's the 3 musketeers (note the disappointingly small wine glass size)

Both Linda & Sue reminded me that when we were in French class in year 10, I would always walk into class pointing my hands (like an Egyptian) and singing 'Entre pas le petit dejuner'. It was a sentence we were taught and that must've been the way I could remember it - or I may have just been trying to make my friends laugh. As luck would have it, we visited the market and saw this sign with the heading PETIT DEJUNER:

During our Colomar wanderings we also discovered the 'BIGGEST' rabbit I have ever seen - and yes it was alive and happily munching away in it's cage. Its head alone was the size of both my hands:

We happily popped back to our airbnb to have another bevvy (and allow Olivier to continue to watch the current cycling race) before we happily and sadly said goodbye. Thanks again for popping over to see us Linda & Olivier 💖💜.

To finish off our wonderful day, we walked across the road to get this shot:

Great way to spend our last day in this glorious town with friends.

Tomorrow we are catching the train to Paris for 7 glorious nights.

Keep smiling, stay safe & be kind to each other (that could be the wine talking)ðŸ‘ļ

PS - thanks for letting me 'borrow' your sunnies Linda :)
