Paris Day 4 (18 Apr)
Last night was my worst sleep since arriving in Europe and Sue woke with a bit of a sore throat. Thankfully this is sorta a rest day for us, so I am taking that opportunity literally and completing some pers admin (my sister's favourite thing).
Sue has decided to lighten her suitcase a bit and headed off the find the post office and post some things home - whilst also grabbing us some lunch.
Not long after she arrives back with a fresh ham and salad baguette (my first) and some croissants - yummo.
Rest of day is washing, clearing up, paying bills etc etc before heading out to go to The Musee D'Orsay for our 6pm ticketed entry. When Sue was researching the Museum, she found that it opened one night a week (Thursday) with smaller numbers of people attending. So she booked that and it was also cheaper than going through the day - double win!!
The place is huge and has an incredible mix of artefacts ranging from paintings, to sculptures, to wood carvings to drawings to plant representations. I'm not sure how anyone could view it all in one day, so we chose to see the paintings and were particularly interested in the Impressionist painters. We finished by viewing some of the sculptures and after about 2hrs decided we had seen everything we wanted and headed for dinner before catching our train back to our airbnb. Here's some of my favourite photos (all taking by Sue - thanks Thumper). 2nd photo is one of the large clocks within the Musee, rest are some of my favourite paintings which may seen familiar:
Early start tomorrow as we need to leave by 7am to ensure we are at our meeting point for an all day tour to Monet's Garden and Palace of Versailles - can't wait.
