Wales to York (4 May) and my sister's birthday 🎂
Most important thing first - happy birthday Sis. Hope it's a goodie 🎂🎇
Easy day today. Bit of breaky in the morning and a tidy up before we leave our lovely Welsh airbnb and I drive for about 2hrs 30mins to York - where we are staying for 3 nights.
We make good time and drop into the 'Cross Keys pub for lunch. This time we both had a chicken, bacon and avocado salad - which was yummy - whilst watching Arsenal beat Bournemouth on the big screen!!!
This killed enough time to enable us to keep driving and find our airbnb. Check-in was 3pm, and we were only slightly earlier than that and appear to be about a 10min walk from the City Centre - which is lovely.
We get ourselves sorted in to our airbnb and relax for a few hours whilst we await our 'Dark Chronicles Horror walk of York' at 6.45pm tonight. We leave at 6.15pm to make sure we arrive 15 mins early and can take our time to find the meeting point.
We arrive at 6.30pm and by 6.40pm are starting to get a bit itchy as no-one else, let alone the Tour Guide has arrived. To cut a long story short, we hang around until 7pm and then decide it's a bust - which is the first time its ever happened to me - so we head back, pick up a bottle of white for Sue (our host has left us a bottle of red, so I'm in heaven) and decide to make the most of our disappointment.
Here's some shots of the incredible old buildings snapped during our walk to the meeting point:
I've sent off a 'please explain and refund' email and now it's back to wine and chips.
Tomorrow is a cruise down the Ouse River in the morning and an arvo in the country - life is good.
Cheers 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
